Chris McCandless rejects a traditional path of success and instead defines success on his own terms through freedom, experience, and personal meaning. Reflect on what success means to you at your current stage in life. In the response, explain how success is currently defined (grades, college acceptance, achievements, happiness, etc.) and where those ideas come from. Then, consider whether that definition truly reflects personal values or if it is shaped by expectations from family, school, or society.
Prompt Response:
To me, success means that you've reached your goals in life and are enjoying the things you love to do in your future. This definition truly reflects personal values because if you know you've become successful, that means that you have reached your goals that you wanted to achieve, you are working at the job you want to work at and making the money you want to make. People who do not reach their personal goals tend to not have a good job, enjoy life, or not have enough money to take care of themselves.
Summary:
In class we answered our peers critical thinking questions, then read chapters 9-10 of "Into the Wild."
Reflection:
I learned how to create and answer critical thinking questions.
